Boat Yard Study No.1 Oil on card stock.
Today I was experimenting with how a color
ground affects a painting. Study No.1 was painted
without a ground color. Study No.2 has an
orange ground. I like the orange ground as it sets
up more of an emotional response. By doing these
sketches/exercises I can see for myself how the colors
of the ground affect the colors put on top. I hope by
doing these experiments it will help my painting
vocabulary.
