Venice Drawing 1-100

Venice Drawing 1-100 - 3.5 x 5 Pencil on Sketch
pad. Around every corner in Venice there was a
sketch to be had. Some of the sketches were turned
into miniature watercolors which I will be posting.
There is enough information in this sketch to
do a full size painting. I'm selling my sketches to the
highest bidder. I will put a mat around the drawing
so it will fit in a standard frame (frame not included).
The bidding starts today and will last 5 days. The bidding
starts at $5.00. I have to buy a new sketch pad you know.
Email your bid to larry@chrapliwy.com.

Olive Grove-Gabriele d'Annunzio's Citadel

Olive Grove-Gabriele d'Annunzio's Citadel
6 x 8 Oil on panel. While the other members
of our group visited the estate and museum I
stayed behindand painted this stand of olive trees.
It was a bright and sunny day and I painted this under
the shade of a large tree. This was an interesting
place as there was a full size war ship built into the
side of a hill. d'Annunzio was a famous poet of Italy.

Lago Como

Lago Como 6 x 8 Oil on Panel. The painting is from the
Lake Como area. Looking across you can see an island
and the Alps in the background. The blues and shades greens
of the landscapes there are very rich. The orange roofs
are everywhere and act as beautiful complimentary color.
The lighting conditions are always atmospheric with cotton
candy clouds floating by.

Lugano Switzerland

Lugano Switzerland - 6 x 8 Oil on Panel.
The village Lugano is in the Lago Como "lakes"
area near the border of Switzerland. I painted under
a large Sycamore tree as while the group was on boat ride
and tour of one of the the villages. You can see some of
the Alps in the background. Awesome!

Venice Gondola

Venice Gondola - 3 x 5.5 Watercolor. Quick sketch using my
mini watercolor box, small sketch pad and pen. I did a lot of these
kinds of quick sketches while out exploring the streets and canals of Venice.
I plan to do a small 5x7 oil from all of my 100 sketches and
publish a book. I'll keep you informed.

Venice Blues

Venice Blues 6 x 8 Oil on Panel.
This was my first plein air painting when we arrived in
Venice Italy. There it was, a beautiful blue boat just sitting
there waiting to be painted. I had to work fast as the workers
were unloading building materials right in front of me and I
had to move around a bit. When I finished the painting a few of
the worker's came over and commented on the painting in Italian.
I couldn't understand but from the expressions on their faces
they liked it, and then they all started singing and dancing
"For He's A Jolly Good Fellow" in Italian. It was really heart
warming and I knew I was going to love "Italy".
