Cold Night on Manhasset Bay

Cold Night on Manhasset Bay - 8 x 8 Oil on Panel
I've always wanted to do a nightscape. Last night it was very cold
on Long Island. I tried to capture the feel of what it was like in
Port Washington at low tide on a chilly night. The warm color
highlights just near the boats give the feeling they are huddled
together and hunkering down for the night. The hazy moon
over the bay and dark ominus clouds overhead made for an interesting
painting of this scene. This is what I saw while out for a walk last
night. I rushed home and painted this entireley from memory last
night and finished it up this morning. I can still feel the chill of this one
and that winter is just around the corner.
